Nancy O'Dell's professional career started in Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and reporter for news with WPDE-TV. Later, she was a morning news anchor and crime reporter for WCBD-TV. O'Dell's reporting on the lax response of the police towards DUI instances in Charleston caused an investigation conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in direction from the state authorities on DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was awarded an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell's work in Charleston was the reason she joined as co-anchor and investigative reporter and anchor for NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Prior to becoming a part of Access Hollywood she was a weekday co-anchor as well as the NBC weekend co-anchor. O'Dell, as well as anchoring the main show for Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC.
